Set up of two new laboratories due to the NAWA Polish Returns Programme

New laboratories researching pathogen-host interactions will be set up at IBB PAS due to the NAWA Polish Returns Programme winners: Michał Wandel, PhD, and Maciej Nogalski, PhD.

NAWA –  Polish Returns Programme

Michał Wandel, a PhD currently working at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge UK, will join the IBB to lead the laboratory researching the molecular mechanisms of a non-specific immune response. Mr. Wandel's primary focus will be the processes associated with bacterial and fungal human cell infections.

Maciej Nogalski is a PhD currently working at Princeton University. His primary focus is on viral human cell infections. At IBB PAS, Mr. Nogalski will lead the laboratory researching the molecular mechanisms of using non-coding host-RNA by viruses, including these processes' role in developing the neoplasm.

The research set in both laboratories is planned for the second half of 2021 and will bolster existing IBB research in the pathogens field. We want to congratulate both winners and wish you a spectacular success in your research fields!
